Rick's Bio

My name is Rick Horton. I am 39 years old and live in Wood Dale, IL with my lovely wife Mally. I began cycling for exercise last year with Tim, my friend and coworker at United Airlines. He had just bought a bike we started riding together before our 3pm shift at work.  As we began making longer and longer rides we discussed doing a multiple day touring ride and using that as a way to raise money for Charity. Because Tim’s oldest daughter Summer has spina bifida and the Illinois Spina Bifida Association has been such a tremendous source of support for Tim and his family, we selected them for our charity.

One of my other hobbies is flying a Piper Cherokee 140 airplane which I co-own. I am donating a sightseeing flight along the Chicago lakefront as a prize in our raffle. Other hobbies include reading, scuba diving, watching movies and running.  I am really looking forward to this ride and have spent a great deal of time training and preparing for it. I hope that our friends and the community will support us in our effort to raise money for this worthy cause.
